"Queen of the Tetons"

Inspiration: For this collection I knew I wanted to create a grizzly bear piece for it from the start. After hearing the news of one of the most iconic bears of our time tragically passing away a few weeks ago, I decided to create a piece that honored and remembered Grizzly 399. “She was a living legend, and she became this ambassador for her species and a kind of rallying symbol for people working to conserve American public lands.” The Tetons won’t be the same without her but her legacy will live on.

Composed of: Reclaimed barnwood and a rustic wine barrel ring for the backer and frame. Nearly 200 hand cut and hand sanded pieces of black walnut and barnwood were used to capture the bear and Teton Mountain Range along with the textured steel at the bottom of the piece. Epoxy resin was used to create the realistic eyes.
